After graduating, I moved to Rio de Janeiro Brazil with my family. It was a wonderful 2 year experience after which I landed in Colorado to ski. Winter Park is where I met Gene and we married in 1972. We came out to Oregon to go to school at SOC (back in the day) then returned to Colorado in 1976. We started our family and I took advantage of an opportunity when a mine had a mass hiring soon after affirmative action was legislated. They trained me to run a production loader 8100 feet underground...whoa! Who knew, I was good at it and really liked it. Since then we owned our own construction company in Colorado for 8 years then moved to Oregon and worked heavy highway and structure construction to the present.
